Unwrapping the Gift of Silent Conversations
The night everything changed for me didn’t come with flashing lights or big announcements. It was just me, in my usual spot, kneeling by my bed, the house finally quiet except for the whirring of the white noise machine (which honestly just makes me even more aware of how NOT quiet my mind is). My three boys were asleep, and I was just… still. But not really, because inside I was anything but.
That was the night I “heard” my first silent message—a message with no sound at all. I didn’t even know that was a thing! It was Jay the first nonspeaker I had met. I’d met him earlier that day—a kid whose eyes just radiated knowing. Like, you look at him and you just know he knows stuff. Deep, soul stuff. His mom, Emma, carried this mix of fierce hope and deep, aching loneliness. It was one of those meetings that stays with you.
So here I am, praying—kind of a messy, open-hearted prayer—when suddenly I feel Jay’s presence. Not in the room, but so clearly there. And there’s this message, not for me, but for his mom. I was like, “Um, what just happened?!” It was beautiful, but also weird and I didn’t even know what to do with it.
The only thing I did know was energy sessions, so the next morning, I nervously messaged Emma. “So, uh, I think Jay might have something to say—would you want to do a session?” That “yes” kicked off not just a working relationship, but a deep, supportive friendship that’s grown over the years as this whole gift has unfolded.
11 years later!!
Fast forward eleven years (because sometimes I’m a slow learner!), and a dad I work with shares these “telepathy tapes.” And something inside me goes, “Wait. Do I even need all these other tools? What if I could just listen?” That’s when I really started trying to meet these incredible kids spirit to spirit—no charts, no muscle testing, just showing up in prayer or meditation and listening with my heart.
That’s how I found myself on “the hill”—this sacred, sort-of-imaginary but also very real place where the veil feels so thin, and I meet with these kids. Jay was there waiting for me, like, “Finally! You’re ready.” We’d talk, spirit to spirit, and then Sterling joined, and then others. The hill became this spiritual meeting ground where I could relay messages to families, and—here’s the wild part—it always felt more real than anything else I was doing.
Jay, ever the visionary, started building me an “office” on the hill. Not an office-office, but a safe space—sometimes there’d be an aquarium with an octopus (that’s a whole other story!), or a garage for a car-loving kid. Every addition was unique, just for that child. A place where they could truly belong and be heard, without needing spoken words.
Pretty soon, other families joined in. Jay became my steady greeter, welcoming every child. Parents would share their tears and laughter, and I realized what I was offering wasn’t just a comfort. It was proof—confirmation—that love and communication don’t stop where speech does. These kids, this growing circle, became the true guides.
Sharing Stories and More
That’s what nudged me to start sharing stories on the podcast. Because here’s the truth: every child communicates. Our job? Just learn to listen with our hearts. Love goes deeper than words, and our intuition, our willingness to trust those “nudges,” is often all the permission we need to connect.
