💖 The Subtle Power of Simple Gestures: Love in Everyday Moments

Today I want to talk about something beautifully simple—the power of loving others. Not the grand, movie-style kind of love, but the kind that shows up in small, everyday moments. A genuine smile. A friendly wave. A simple “hi.”

These gestures might seem small, but they can remind someone that they are seen, they belong, and they matter.

With permission from his mom, I want to share a story from a recent Spirit to Spirit session. It was the beginning of the school year, and a mom wanted to know how her son, Danny, was adjusting.

Here’s what Danny shared with me—and the image he showed me. Because sometimes, when children speak Spirit to Spirit, it comes through as pictures as well as words.

Danny said, “I’m starting to get to know people. Instead of a hundred new faces, I recognize their energy now. Some of the kids are kind—they smile at me and say hi.”

As he spoke, I saw the scene he was describing: a busy school hallway filled with students. In the crowd, a few kids seemed to glow—they were the ones smiling at him, little heart emojis floating above their heads.

I laughed and cried at the same time because I could see it so clearly.

“It’s like those kids see me as a normal kid,” Danny added.

Of course, he is a normal kid—but not everyone sees that right away.

This made me miss my son, Bryson

His story touched me deeply. It reminded me of my son Bryson, who’s serving a mission in the Philippines right now. He’s always been one of those “glowing kids.”

Bryson has such a natural way of loving others—especially those who might feel different or left out. Whether it was through Unified Sports, peer tutoring, or just saying hello to the quiet kids, he’s always been someone who smiles, waves, and includes others.

When I saw those glowing hearts above the kids in Danny’s vision, I thought of Bryson. It reminded me that simple gestures of love matter so much more than we think.

Danny’s message also showed me something profound: sometimes people can’t truly see others because they’re still learning to see themselves. The kids who “glowed” in his vision were those who already knew who they were—and from that place, they could see and love others too.

Love really is like tossing a pebble of light into the world. You might not see all the ripples, but they’re moving outward just the same.

💫 Passing the Light Forward

As you go about your day, let your light shine. Smile at someone new. Say hello. Offer kindness where it’s needed.

You never know—you might be one of those glowing hearts in someone else’s world.

Parents, especially those walking unique journeys with your children, remember this: every act of love, patience, and understanding sends light into the world.

These simple moments create healing, hope, and connection.

So go share your light today—and let love ripple outward.
