There is something so tender about looking back through the pictures of the children I’ve worked with.
Lately, I’ve been creating a special client book with photos and notes from Spirit to Spirit sessions, and it has filled my heart in the sweetest way. Every picture brings back the love, the connection, and the unique beauty of that child’s spirit.
One thing I’ve learned is that these sessions are never just about answers. They are about connection.
When I first began doing Spirit to Spirit sessions, I noticed how powerful it was simply to open a child’s picture and feel that connection begin. Over time, I learned to wait until just before the session, because these beautiful children were often ready to connect with me long before I was ready to be awake at five in the morning.
As I’ve revisited these memories, I’ve been reminded how much joy there is in truly seeing a child for who they are.
I thought about my own boys and the people who loved them well. One memory that came back so clearly was when my son Devon, as a Cub Scout, licked his leader’s arm. Instead of reacting with frustration or embarrassment, she received him with love. She understood that this was part of how he experienced the world. She saw him with kindness and appreciation.
That kind of seeing is such a gift.
And that is one of the deepest desires I have in my work.
I love being able to connect with nonspeaking children spirit to spirit and then share what I learn with their parents. I love helping mothers see more of their child’s vibrant, beautiful self.
One mother once told me that before these sessions, she felt like she saw her son in black and white. Afterward, she began to see him in color.
That is so powerful!
It is such a privilege to witness these children, to feel their love, to hear their hearts, and to help their parents feel more connected to them too.
