If you are the parent of a nonspeaker, you probably know this feeling.
Someone explains your child in terms of limits. Someone tells you what they cannot do, what they may never do, what you should stop hoping for. And maybe you nod on the outside, but inside something in you quietly says, that is not the whole truth.
Because you have seen something.
You have seen the look in your child’s eyes. You have felt their presence. You have sensed that there is more going on than what can be measured in a quick appointment or explained in a short conversation. You may not have had words for it yet, but your heart has known: my child is in there.
I want to say this clearly.
Your child is in there.
Nonspeakers are competent. They are aware. They are intelligent, loving, funny, observant, and full of personality. A child may not use spoken words in a reliable way, but that does not mean they do not have thoughts, preferences, wisdom, or a deep inner life. Some children are also considered a nonreliable speaker or unreliable speaker, meaning they may say some things, but spoken language is not dependable as their main way of expressing what they truly want to say.
That is why Spirit to Spirit Sessions matter so much to me.
These sessions are about listening in a deeper way. They are about creating a sacred, gentle space where connection can happen. They are about helping parents of nonspeakers and parents of autistic kids experience more peace, more hope, and more understanding of the child they love so deeply.
What Are Spirit to Spirit Sessions?
Spirit to Spirit Sessions are private, meditative sessions where I connect with a nonspeaker child from a place of prayer, love, and deep listening.
I do these sessions independently. I get myself into a calm, grounded, meditative state, and then I connect with your child spirit to spirit. I can ask the questions you have submitted, listen for the messages your child wants to share, and receive the thoughts, feelings, images, and impressions that come through.
Afterward, I send you an audio recording of the session along with a transcript so you can return to the message again and again.
Each session is unique. Each child is unique. And each experience carries its own sweetness.
Sometimes the messages bring reassurance. Sometimes they bring insight. Often they answer a question a parent has held in their heart for a very long time. And sometimes they simply bring that precious feeling of, my child is here, my child knows, my child loves, my child is more connected than I realized.
Why Parents of Nonspeakers Seek Spirit to Spirit Sessions
If you are one of the many parents of nonspeakers trying to support your child with love and faithfulness, you also know how exhausting it can be to live in uncertainty.
You may spend so much of your day wondering.
Are they understanding me?
Are they uncomfortable?
Are they anxious?
Do they want this?
Do they know how deeply I love them?
Is there something they have been trying to tell me all along?
That kind of guessing can be exhausting. It can create grief, confusion, self-doubt, and overwhelm, even when your love is fierce and steady.
Spirit to Spirit Sessions can offer something different.
They can offer confirmation.
They can offer comfort.
They can offer a feeling of connection replacing confusion.
For many parents of autistic kids, this is the beginning of seeing communication in a much bigger way. Bigger than speech. Bigger than behavior. Bigger than what the world has taught us to notice.
Sometimes the deepest truths are not spoken out loud. Sometimes they are felt. Received. Known.
And when a parent begins to experience their child in that way, something often softens. Hope returns. Trust returns. Peace returns.
Nonspeaker Does Not Mean Absent
This is one of the most important truths I share again and again: nonspeaker does not mean absent.
A child who does not speak with their mouth may still be communicating constantly.
They may communicate through spelling. Through gestures. Through songs. Through images. Through energy. Through dreams. Through subtle moments of knowing. Through spirit-to-spirit connection.
I believe every child speaks. We just have to learn how to listen.
That does not mean every form of communication looks the same. It does not mean every parent will experience it in the same way. But it does mean we can widen our understanding. We can loosen our grip on old assumptions. We can make room for deeper possibilities without losing our grounding.
For parents of nonspeakers, that shift alone can be healing.
Because when you stop asking only, “Why can’t my child communicate the usual way?” and begin asking, “How is my child already communicating?” everything starts to change.
Spirit to Spirit Sessions for a Nonreliable Speaker
Some children are not fully nonspeaking, but spoken language is not reliable enough to carry their full thoughts. In those cases, families may describe their child as a nonreliable speaker or unreliable speaker.
These children may say some meaningful phrases. They may request favorite places or familiar things. And yet at other times, their speech may not reflect what they truly mean. They may repeat lines, echo language, or say things that do not accurately express their inner world.
That can be confusing for everyone involved.
It can be confusing for the child.
It can be confusing for the parent.
It can create a painful gap between what is felt and what is heard.
Spirit to Spirit Sessions can be meaningful here too, because the goal is not to analyze speech patterns. The goal is to listen beyond them.
When a child’s spoken words are inconsistent, it can be deeply comforting to have another avenue for connection. A gentle, respectful avenue rooted in love rather than pressure.
For Parents of Autistic Kids Who Feel There Must Be More
There is a kind of parent I especially love to serve.
It is the parent who has already tried so many things.
The parent who has carried both fierce love and private grief.
The parent who has sat in the car after another appointment and felt that quiet ache of being unseen.
The parent who senses something true about their child, even when others do not reflect it back.
Maybe that is you.
Maybe you are open, but cautious.
Maybe you are hopeful, but tired.
Maybe you do not need someone to push you.
Maybe you just need someone to say, I see what you are sensing too.
Spirit to Spirit Sessions are for parents of autistic kids who are open to deeper connection.
You do not have to have everything figured out.
You do not have to know exactly how it works.
You do not have to force belief.
You just need a small doorway of possibility.
What Happens During a Spirit to Spirit Session?
The process is simple and gentle.
Before the session, you share your child’s name, picture and your questions. I especially love when parents submit specific questions, because it gives us a beautiful starting place. You may want to ask about emotions, fears, regulation, behaviors, comfort, family dynamics, school, spiritual experiences, or anything else on your heart.
Then I do the session on my own, in a meditative and prayerful space.
I connect with your child.
I ask the questions.
I listen.
I receive what comes.
After the session, I send you the recording and transcript.
There is no pressure for your child to perform. No need for them to speak out loud. No demand placed on them. Just a sacred invitation for their truth, their light, and their message to be received.
The Gift of Feeling Your Child Is Known
The real gift is not just information.
The real gift is relationship.
When parents of nonspeakers begin to feel that their child is known, heard, and understood in a new way, the whole emotional atmosphere can shift. There can be more patience. More grace. More trust. More tenderness. More room to breathe.
And when a child is approached as competent, aware, and deeply present, that matters too.
Children feel how we see them.
If we see only limitation, that creates one kind of relationship.
If we see soul, intelligence, and possibility, that creates another.
Spirit to Spirit Sessions are one way of honoring the full personhood of your child.
Not a diagnosis.
Not a list of challenges.
Not a mystery to solve.
A person.
A soul.
A beloved child with something to say.
A Gentle Kind of Support for Parents of Nonspeakers
So much support for families focuses only on what needs to be managed.
And yes, practical tools matter. Regulation matters. Grounding matters. Daily life matters. I care deeply about all of that.
But parents of nonspeakers also need hope.
They need space to be reminded that their child is not unreachable.
They need support that does not begin with fear.
They need experiences that restore connection.
They need someone who can hold both the spiritual and the practical with gentleness.
That is part of what I hope these sessions offer.
Not urgency.
Not pressure.
Not dramatic promises.
Just a calm, loving space where something deeper can be heard.
You Are Not Crazy for Sensing Your Child So Deeply
I want to say this to the parent reading this who has been quietly wondering if they are imagining things.
You are not crazy for sensing your child so deeply.
You are not foolish for believing there is more.
You are not naive for noticing awareness in your nonspeaker.
You are not wrong for hoping for connection beyond what professionals have explained.
Sometimes a parent knows before the world knows.
Sometimes love recognizes what data has not yet caught up to.
Sometimes your child has been speaking to your heart in ways you have not fully trusted yet.
That matters.
And if you are the parent of a nonreliable speaker, an unreliable speaker, or a nonspeaker, it may be time to honor what you have already been sensing.
Is a Spirit to Spirit Session Right for Your Family?
A Spirit to Spirit Session may be a beautiful fit if:
You feel your child has something to say.
You long for deeper understanding.
You want to ask specific questions from a place of love.
You are open to spiritual forms of communication.
You want a gentle, sacred experience that centers your child’s dignity and truth.
These sessions are especially meaningful for parents of autistic kids and parents of nonspeakers or unreliable speakers who already sense that their child is more aware, more present, and more communicative than others realize.
If that is you, you are in the right place.
Spirit to Spirit Sessions: A Deeper Way to Listen
I know this path can feel lonely sometimes.
I know there are moments when you wonder if anyone else can see what you see.
I know there are moments of beauty that are hard to explain.
I know there are moments of deep exhaustion too.
But I also know this:
Your child is not unreachable.
Your child is not less because they do not speak in typical ways.
Your child has a voice, even if you cannot audibly hear it.
And love is still finding ways to speak.
Spirit to Spirit Sessions are one invitation into that deeper listening.
A gentle invitation.
A sacred invitation.
A hopeful invitation.
Your child is seen.
Your child is heard.
Your child is known.
Your child is loved.
And so are you.
Curious if This is Right for You and Your Child?
If you feel your child has something to share, and you would love support in hearing them more deeply, I would be honored to hold this space for you.
